The South Australia state government and the Mobil oil company reached agreement on 23 December 2008 on the sale of the land at Port Stanvac for Adelaide’s desalination plant.
The two sides signed a Heads of Agreement document setting out the terms and conditions for the land sale, with the formal purchase contract to be drawn up in 2009.
SA Water also signed the contract with the joint venture of McDonnell Dowell and Built Environs to design and construct the transfer pipeline from the 150,000 m³/d Adelaide plant to the Happy Valley water treatment plant.
The main desalination contract is due to be awarded in March 2009.
