The International Desalination Association (IDA) has shortlisted Mombasa, Kenya, among four finalists to host its 2021 World Congress, reports The Star.
The news was confirmed by Kenyan director of communications Richard Chacha. Keyna would be the first African country to host the biennial event if its bid is successful.
The other world cities bidding to host the 2021 industry get-together were: Barcelona in Spain; Calgary, Canada; Daegu, South Korea; in South Africa, Cape Town and Durban; Chennai and Hyderabad in India; Manchester, UK; Melbourne and Sydney, Australia; Munich, Germany; Muscat, Oman; and the island of Malta.
The IDA World Congress began in 1985 and has been hosted by 17 cities worldwide in 12 different countries.
The 2019 IDA World Congress: Crossroads to Sustainability will be held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from 20 to 24 October 2019.
