The United Arab Emirates’ largest power production and water desalination plant, the Jebel Ali M Station in Dubai was officially opened on 8 April 2013 by the deputy ruler of Dubai, Shaikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The US$ 2.72 billion plant comprises six 234 MW gas turbines and 8 multi-stage flash desalination units, each producing 17.5 MIGD (80,000 m³/d) of water.
The desalination plant contractor was Italy’s FISIA. Project consultant was Fichtner of Germany.
