Integrated membrane design software updated by Hydranautics

The latest version of its IMSDesign membrane projection software was announced by desalination membrane manufacturer Hydranautics of the USA on 26 January 2010.

IMSDesign2010 is a comprehensive program that allows the user to design accurately a reverse- osmosis (RO) system using the latest in Hydranautics membrane technology. The software provides many new features that enhance the user’s ability quickly and accurately to design and analyze various RO desalination systems.

The new software builds on the features provided in IMSDesign2009, which included simulating the effect of energy-recovery devices on RO performance, ability to run a predefined batch of projections and modeling of 16 in diameter RO elements. Hydranautics says these were all “firsts” in the industry.

IMSDesign2010 has been enhanced with an improved temperature correction factor for more accurate performance projections of seawater membranes at low temperatures, an ability to correlate flux decline and fouling factors, more stable turbo booster calculations and the ability to model an interstage turbo and interstage booster pump in series.

The program will also include new elements being released for commercial sale. In addition, significant improvements have been made to the language translations for ease of use by international customers.
