IDA releases details for desalination academy launch

The International Desalination Association on 14 February 2012 released the schedule for the launch of the IDA Academy at the Singapore Water Week in July 2012.

The academy will open on 4-5 July 2012, with mix-and-match course choices, and will be limited to 75 participants per course. Course topics will range from in-depth examination of membrane and thermal technologies, to costing strategies, plant operations and case studies.

Teachers for these inaugural courses were selected from a long line of desalination experts across the globe, distinguished by theoretical and practical knowledge and experience: Lisa Henthorne, Dr Mark Wilf, Nikolay Voutchkov, David H Paul, Dr Corrado Sommariva and Leon Awerbuch.

The academy will offer an informative tour of a desalination plant on 6 July 2012 as a supplementary activity and in-depth learning experience.

The IDA Academy is a global institute for specialized training in desalination and a higher school for special study in this field. Its mission is to provide the highest level of training, education and instruction to individuals, utilities, companies, institutions, universities and other organizations interested in desalination in all its aspects.

Registration is not yet open and would-be participants have been asked to check back with the IDA website. IDA is actively engaged in pursuing accreditation for all academy courses.
