IDA opens applications for $10,000 Channabasappa Scholarship

The International Desalination Association (IDA) is accepting applications for the Channabasappa Memorial Scholarship 2018-19.

The programme awards grants of up to $5,000 to one or more graduate students who are studying for a doctorate and intend to pursue a research thesis on a topic related to desalination or water reuse.

This year’s programme additionally benefits from $5,000 provided by the Institute of Seawater Desalination and Multi-purpose Utilisation (ISDMU), Tianjin, China, bringing the total value to $10,000. ISDMU’s contribution will be channeled through the IDA Sustainable Water Resources Foundation (SWRF), which will issue a grant.

IDA’s scholarship scheme and SWRF’s capacity-building activity is intended to encourage engineers and scientists to further their post-graduate education in subjects related to desalination, membranes, and water reuse. Applicants must have graduated from an accredited university, and be among the top 10 per cent of their class in science or engineering; and all applicants must be members of IDA.

The deadline is 31 January 2019.
