Desalination expert David Furukawa is to address the Australian Water Association’s South Australia branch about the National Centre of Excellence in Desalination (NCED) of which he is interim chief scientific officer.
The special technical event will take place on 18 October 2010 at SA Water House in Adelaide.
Furukawa’s presentation will highlight the centre and its role in building desalination knowledge in Australia. The first-round research projects for the NCED will be reviewed and plans for constructing the Pilot Plant Testing Research Facility in Rockingham will be discussed.
He will also discuss where desalination fits into today’s water supply picture and briefly review current technology and its place in today’s water portfolio. This will include future technologies and some of the barriers they hope to overcome.
