IDE Technologies has selected pressure-exchangers from Energy Recovery Inc (ERI) for the 189,000 m³/d Carlsbad seawater desalination plant in California, USA.
ERI will provide 144 of its PX Pressure Exchanger Q300 units to the reverse-osmosis plant. The units are expected to ship by the end of the year.
The PX technology is estimated to save California’s first large-scale plant an estimated 116 million kWh of energy per year, the equivalent of US$ 12 million.
