Dubai cooling company deploys 3,000 m³/d RO plant

Emirates Central Cooling Corporation (Empower) in Dubai announced on 17 April 2012 that it was deploying reverse-osmosis technology in its plant at the Dubai International Finance Centre (DIFC) to produce an average of 3,000 m³/d of polished water.

The move is in line with the Dubai government’s strategy of conserving water resources and Empower’s commitment to reduce the consumption of desalinated water in district cooling.

The DIFC polishing plant was designed slightly differently from Empower’s 1,000 m³/d RO plant at Dubai Healthcare City, with an ability to produce desalinated water quality, thus minimizing and eliminating the use of additional expensive specialty chemicals to treat the cooling towers and chillers.
