High-performance pleated filter cartridges specifically engineered and designed to address the bio- contaminant issues in ultrapure water applications have been introduced by Argonide Corporation.
NanoCeram-DP™ pleated filter cartridges utilize a design incorporating two distinct pleated layers of filter media, which yield extremely high filtration efficiency for bacteria, virus and endotoxins.
Argonide’s patented non-woven filter media matrix is infused with nanoalumina fibers, creating an electropositively-charged depth filter. When assembled into a pleated cartridge, a NanoCeram‐DP™ filter offers an ultra‐high level of filtration efficiency because of the extra bed‐depth provided by the two layers of electropositive filter media.
Initial bacteria (E coli) and virus (MS2) retention greater than 7.5 LRV and 6 LRV (respectively) have been shown in laboratory testing for the new NanoCeram-DP cartridges. Additional testing indicates up to 99.95% endotoxin initial removal (235 to <0.12 EU/ml @ 10 mL/cm²/min) using filter discs.
NanoCeram® is also capable of removing small particles (including colloidal iron and TOC’s), bacteria, virus and endotoxins from water at high flow rates, using the principal of electrostatic attraction and adsorption.
These cartridges are available in four versions: standard, powder activated carbon (PAC) and two hybrid filters, both of which incorporate an activated carbon block as the center core. One hybrid uses standard NanoCeram media and the other NanoCeram-PAC media as a pleated layer surrounding the carbon block. They will fit into most commercially available filter housings and results have shown a greater dirt-holding capacity, higher efficiency and wider operating pH range than other charged filters.
