Dow Water & Process Solutions is the new name of the combined Dow Water Solutions and Rohm & Haas Ion Exchange Resins businesses, following Dow’s acquisition of Rohm & Haas, which was completed on April 1 2009.
Dow announced completion of the merger on 28 April 2009. The new business entity, a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company, is based in Edina, Minnesota, USA. Dow is already the world’s largest manufacturer of reverse osmosis membranes and the addition of Rohm & Haas makes Dow Water & Process Solutions the industry leader in ion-exchange resins.
Dow says that the larger scale of the new business will improve its ability to invest in the innovative research and technology required to provide reliable, high-quality products and services. Improved operational efficiencies will be sought in a number of major application areas, including industrial and municipal water, industrial processes, pharmaceuticals, power, residential water and waste and water reuse.
