CaribDA pretreatment workshop set for Antigua
16 Feb 11 by desalination
A workshop on pretreatment for seawater reverse-osmosis (SWRO) desalination plants is being held by the Caribbean Desalination Association (CaribDA) on the island of Antigua on 7-8 April 2011.
The first day will take the form of a course, titled Seawater and Brackish Water Pretreatment: Media and Membrane Filtration taught by Jonathon Dietrich, who is past-president of the Southeast Desalting Association and has taught membrane plant operators for over 23 years throughout North America, Africa and the Middle East.
The course is designed for the education of plant operators and other personnel currently or who will in the future be required to operate RO systems. The content will cover both theoretical and practical aspects of issues and solutions relating to RO pretreatment. The format will have a hands-on approach to learning.
Day 2 will be a series of case studies from the likes of Nalco, Dow and Veolia, before a facility tour of Apua SWRO Plant at Ffryes Beach led by Mario Bento of Caribbean Water Treatment Ltd.
The event will be based at the City View Hotel in St Johns and a full programme can be found on the CaribDA website,
