The Desalination company of Trinidad and Tobago (Desalcott) has recently completed a performance test of its expanded Point Lisas seawater reverse osmosis plant.
The 12-year-old plant plant on Trinidad’s west coast has been expanded from160 Ml/d to 200 Ml/d. According to Desalcott general manager John Thompson, the test demonstrated the plant’s ability to produce its full capacity for 15 consecutive days. The plant actually delivered an average of 207 Ml/d MIGD and a peak of 222 Ml/d while producing product water that did not exceed 85 mg/l of total dissolved solids said Thompson.
A further planned expansion is scheduled for June 2015 and will include adding more reverse osmosis capacity along with a microfiltration pretreatment system.
