German chemical giant BASF confirmed on 17 August 2011 the completion of its acquisition of inge watertechnologies AG, which was originally announced in April 2011.
The anti-trust authorities approved the transaction unconditionally.
Through this acquisition, BASF gains access to the ultrafiltration market based on inge’s Multibore® membrane technology. BASF says that this will profitably expand its market position in the “attractive and rapidly growing” water treatment market and broaden the technology base for its water platform.
“We are pleased to have completed this acquisition within the scheduled time frame and we wish to welcome our new colleagues from inge watertechnologies to BASF,” said Dr Matthias Halusa, vice president of BASF’s Water Solutions Business. “This acquisition will enable us to further improve our position in the water treatment industry by offering our customers package systems including chemicals and membrane equipment.”
