Aquatech wins 13,000 m³/d SWRO for Indian power plant

A 13,000 m³/d seawater reverse-osmosis (SWRO) desalination plant is to be provided for a 1,200 MW coal-fired power station in Tamil Nadu, India, by Aquatech.

The company’s contract is to design, engineer, fabricate and build the SWRO plant for Coastal Energen Pvt Ltd (CEPL).

In addition to seawater desalination, Aquatech is providing a complete water and wastewater solution for the facility, including a high-purity water system, electro-chlorination and an effluent treatment plant. It is a total turnkey package also including pilot trials for the SWRO pretreatment and civil & building work.

“Aquatech has been awarded this order under stiff competition,” said the managing director of CEPL, SM Zafrulla. “The basis for selection of Aquatech as an associate for this project has been the recent commissioning of a desalination plant for India’s first ultra-mega power plant and also various important installations supplied and commissioned worldwide.”
