Aquatech sells produced-water evaporators in Alberta

Aquatech is to design, engineer, supply and supervise installation and commissioning of a produced-water evaporator system for Pengrowth Energy Corporation’s Lindbergh 12,500 bpd Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) enhanced oil-recovery facility.

The project is located in the Cold Lake region of Alberta, Canada.
Designed using Aquatech’s patented High Efficiency Evap
oration process (HEVAP™), the system will treat produced water to provide high quality boiler feedwater that will be converted into steam to be injected into the reservoir as part of the SAGD thermal process.

The HEVAP process incorporates a softening step combined with additional conditioning of the feedwater prior to treatment by the evaporators. This process provides the evaporators with essentially a scale free environment to operate, in addition to lowering operating and life-cycle costs.

The system, incorporating two 907 GPM (57 L/s) primary evaporators, will be shipped by the first quarter of 2014 with expected commissioning and start-up to be completed by the end of 2014.
