June start for Clearwater RO plant in Florida

Construction is due to start in June 2013 on the second reverse-osmosis water treatment plant for City of Clearwater, Florida, following a groundbreaking ceremony on 6 May 2013.

The new desalination facility will treat up to 6.25 MGD (23,650 m³/d) of brackish water to produce additional potable water for Clearwater customers.

This US$ 34 million project includes a brackish wellfield with raw water piping, and a concentrate disposal well. Two storage tanks will be built as part of the project.

Construction is anticipated to be completed in December 2014.
