BWA changes hands once more

Desalination and water treatment chemical specialist BWA Water Additives has been sold for the second time in three years for around £ 185 million (US$ 300 million).

Private investment management company Berwind Corporation, based in Philadelphia, has acquired the company, based in Manchester, UK, from Bahrain's Seera Investment Bank. Seera bought BWA from United International Bank in 2009.

Brand names associated with BWA include Belgard for scale control in thermal desalination and Flocon for scale control, biocide and cleaning in membrane-based systems. The company has regional offices in Atlanta, USA, and Singapore.
