Christ/Eimco merger starts in December
The process of combining Christ Water Technology AG (CWT) with Canadian company GLV Inc’s water treatment group, Eimco Water Technologies (EWT), will commence early in December 2009 after the management of GLV announced on 17 November 2009 that it had acquired 80.5% of the voting shares of in a voluntary takeover bid.

Canadian desalination innovation uses evaporation for energy
Two graduates from the Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, Canada, have developed an innovative solar process for desalinating seawater. Their start-up company, Saltworks Technologies Inc, claims that the process can reduce electricity requirements by up to 80% and has the potential to cut the cost of desalinated water in half.

Solar-powered UF units delivered to Iraq

US exports for renewable-energy, water and nuclear-power projects approved after 1 July 2009 are eligible for a maximum repayment term of up to 18 years under export financing provided by the Export-Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im Bank).

The US Army Corps of Engineers announced on 28 April 2009 that it will receive US$ 2.5 million in funding through the new American Recovery & Reinvestment Act to develop the Cambria desalination project north-west of San Luis Obispo in California.
