Adelaide to get Aus$ 62 million water reuse project
The federal Australian government and South Australia (SA) state will invest Aus$ 62.6 million (US$ 41.3 million) in a project to supply 1.6 million m³/year of treated wastewater to new housing developments in the southern suburbs of Adelaide, where a large desalination contract is also due to be let in March 2009.

Sharjah commissions two plants, plans another
Sharjah Electricity & Water Authority (SEWA)in the UAE is to build a 3 MIGD (13,600 m³/d) desalination plant in Kalba. Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem Al Qasimi, deputy ruler of Sharjah, announced this when he opened the Khor Fakkan desalination plant in the eastern region of the emirate on 3 November.

Toray wins Gulf quartet
Toray Industries Inc announced in September that its reverse-osmosis (RO) membrane business had won orders from four seawater desalination plants with a total capacity of 332,000 m³/d in the Gulf.
