Rich heritage behind new pump union

A new name for the pump industry, but with a rich heritage of pump products, including desalination pumps, is Clyde Union, with the best of Weir and Union pumps.

Weir Pumps of Glasgow, UK, was incorporated into Clyde Pumps Ltd in May 2007, which then purchased Union Pumps of Battle Creek, Michigan, USA, from Textron Inc. All the people, products and facilities of Union Pumps are combined with those of Clyde Pumps into a new global pumping solutions brand, Clyde Union.

Union Pumps specialise in the design and manufacture of pumps, packages, pump repairs and services for the nuclear, oil and gas, petrochemical and desalination industries and employs over 750 people across 12 countries. The company has been manufacturing centrifugal as well as reciprocating pumps since 1885.

All of this heritage and expertise adds to that already held by Clyde Pumps, which offers advanced pumps for power, oil and gas, water and general industrial applications from its plant in Glasgow, as well as through joint venture partners in India and China.

A list of the companies in Clyde Union’s heritage includes Mather & Plant, Drysdale, WH Allen, Girdlestone, Allen Gwynnes, Imo, Harland, David Brown, DB Guinard, American Pump and Pumpline.

Clyde Union says that these two companies coming together will provide customers with a comprehensive portfolio of products and global coverage that will offer superior pump solutions and aftermarket services.
