Tesla develops custom wastewater reuse technology
US automotive and energy company Tesla has published a patent for a wastewater treatment technology that it hopes will reduce operating costs, reports Teslarati.com.
Tesla’s manufacturing processes produce high volumes of wastewater that is concentrated with sodium and sulphate ions. Disposing of it can be costly.
The patent — System for Regenerating Sodium Hydroxide and Sulfuric Acid from Wastewater Stream Containing Sodium and Sulfate Ions — describes a new way to handle it. The system includes an electrolysis treatment system, and three membrane concentration systems, configured in a series of chambers.
The technology is a system that recycles wastewater for reuse in the manufacturing process.
