Saudi’s SWCC moves ahead with privatisation plans

Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) of Saudi Arabia is today (22 March 2017) taking final proposals for two mega desalination plants, in Yanbu and Shuqaiq, reports MEED.

SWCC requested proposals for a desalination plant at Yanbu with capacity of 450,000 m3/d, and a 380,000 m3/d plant at Shuqaiq.

Additionally, advisors have been appointed on the proposed Rabigh 3 reverse osmosis (RO) desalination plant project. Banque Saudi Fransi is the lead advisor, Fichtner Engineering and Consulting is providing technical advice, DLA Piper is the legal advisor, and the financial advisor is Alderbrook.

SWCC is to build eight new privately-financed desalination plants, and to privatise its portfolio of 29 existing plants.
