San Angelo council approves water-reuse study award
The San Angelo City Council in California awarded a US$ 189,000 contract on 20 May 2014 to Alan Plummer Associates Inc to evaluate reuse options for the city's wastewater. The study will look at non-potable and potable reuse options for the city, which already reuses all its wastewater, primarily for irrigation.
The award was delayed from the 6 May council meeting after members balked at several aspects of the contract, particularly questioning why it could not be done by council utilities staff.
Two Texas cities, Big Springs and Wichita Falls, have already implemented water-reuse provisions for their drinking water. The Wichita Falls plant opened on 1 May 2014.
