Singapore’s Sembcorp Industries, which recently announced completion of the first phase of the Salalah Independent Water & Power Plant (IWPP) in Oman, has told D&WR that the reverse-osmosis desalination plant is under construction and will be completed ahead of schedule in April 2012.
The US$ 1.0 billion IWPP is being built by Sembcorp Salalah Power & Water Co, a joint venture of Sembcorp (60%) and the Oman Investment Corporation (40%).
The 69,000 m³/d desalination plant will be alongside a 61 MW gas-fired powerplant. It will begin full commercial operations in the first half of 2012.
