The three units will be installed on barges off the Red Sea coast, initially opposite the desal facilities at Al Shaqiq in the southwest, feeding the tanks there, and supplying Jazan and Asir provinces.

The mobile plants will have the flexibility to travel along the coast to any of the reverse osmosis desalination plants in Saudi Arabia, providing additional capacity where needed.

The three units each of 50,000 m3/d are expected to be operating by October 2019.
