Obama government allocates US$ 126 million for water recycling

The new US government led by President Obama is to provide US$ 126 million for water recycling projects, alongside US$ 6 billion for state potable water programmes and many other water funding resources.

The US$ 787 billion American Recovery & Reinvestment Act became law on 17 February 2009.

According to the WateReuse Association, the recycling projects will be administered by the Bureau of Reclamation through its Title XVI program. This program, as well as water reclamation, includes some desalination projects, such as the Long Beach Desalination Research & Development Project.
