Kuwait to host IDA Fellowship Program for 2012
Kuwait's Ministry of Electricity & Water is to be the new host agency for the International Desalination Association's Fellowship Program in 2012.Now in its fourth year, the program carries a monetary award of US$ 10,000.
Established in 2008, the IDA Fellowship is considered one of the industry's most prestigious awards, recognizing individuals with exceptional professional achievements and dedication to advancing desalination and water reuse. It plays an important role in promoting education and fostering information exchange among industry professionals - two essential aspects in the fulfilment of IDA's mission of supporting development of and promoting the use of desalination and desalination technology globally.
In addition to the monetary award, each Fellow begins an attachment with a host agency - a high-profile public utility or well-respected research organization - working alongside colleagues in the desalination industry, gaining insights into the host agency's operations, strategies and policies, and ultimately exchanging ideas with the global desalination community following this attachment. The host agency also benefits from the IDA Fellow's experience, knowledge and exposure to best practices.
In 2008, PUB became the first host agency for the Fellowship Award program. Subsequent host agencies were Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) in Saudi Arabia in 2009, Water Corporation and Murdoch University in Australia in 2010, and the United States Bureau of Reclamation in 2011.
Application deadline for this year's award is 1 April 2012. See IDA website for details. For additional information, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
