IDA Journal to debut at Dubai desalination conference

The IDA Journal, a new publication that will include peer-reviewed articles on the technical and scientific aspects of desalination, will debut at the 2009 World Congress of the Internatioanal Desalination Association in Dubai.

It will be co-published for IDA by the American Water Works Association (AWWA), which has a well-established publishing and media group.

“The launch of the IDA Journal reflects IDA’s role as the world’s leading resource for information about desalination and water reuse. It provides an additional vehicle for fulfilling our mission of promoting the appropriate use of desalination and desalination technologies worldwide by disseminating relevant, timely and accurate information,” said Patricia A Burke, Secretary General of the IDA.

According to Burke, research has identified a clear need for a scholarly, peer-reviewed publication devoted to desalination and water reuse: “Our goal is to present the industry with technical literature of the highest caliber. We will employ a formal peer review to ensure that the Journal presents readers with literature that has undergone and passed rigorous scrutiny by the world’s top industry professionals and scientists.”

The IDA Journal will be available to IDA members as well as to individual and institutional subscribers. It will be published quarterly and made available in both print and electronic formats.

“With desalination becoming an increasingly important part of the solution to the world’s water problems, it is critical to provide members of the industry with information about the latest advances and applications, and the science behind the technologies,” said Burke.
