Fravel takes over from Watson at AMTA

Dr Harold G Fravel, formerly of Dow Water & Process Solutions, has been named as the new executive director of the American Membrane Technology Association (AMTA).

Fravel comes to the position with over 25 years of experience with membrane and desalination processes. He also brings experience working with non-profit organizations, having been a past president of the Southeast Desalination Association and SEDA’s liaison to the AMTA board.

Fifteen applications were received and a final recommendation was presented to the full AMTA board at their most recent meeting on 25 October 2012 in Key Largo, Florida, the state where Fravel makes his home.
Fravel told the board “AMTA is on the brink of a step chan
ge in its presence in the water industry and needs strong dedicated leadership. Coordination with other associations is imperative to AMTA’s strength and working closely with the AMTA affiliates is necessary. Retaining the current membership is imperative but reaching out to other membrane industry users and suppliers will broaden AMTA’s scope.”

AMTA’s first Executive Director, Ian Watson, is retiring from the position at the end of this year and Fravel will assume his role in January 2013.
