Consultants sought for Chennai III desalination plant

Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB) has called for tenders for consultancy services for a third seawater desalination plant for the city of Chennai in Tamil Nadu, India.

The city already has one 100,000 m³/d plant at Minjur already built by a consortium including Befesa, and a second 100,000 m³/d plant at Nemmeli to be completed by the end of 2011 by a consortium including VATech Wabag and IDE Technologies.

The third plant will be a 200,000 m³/d seawater reverse-osmosis plant. The successful consultants, who must have prepared reports on at least one 100,000 m³/d plant, will conduct prefeasibility studies, prepare a detailed project report and bid documents, and evaluate bids.

Closing date for bids is 4 May 2011.
