Two very different contracts for prefiltration equipment prior to membrane water treatment and desalination have been won by Amiad in Australia.
Valued at approximately US$ 8 million and US$ 1.6 million respectively, the contracts were awarded through the wholly-owned subsidiary Amiad Australia Pty Ltd for projects due to be delivered later this year.
The larger project involves supply and commissioning automatic self-cleaning screen-filter technology for seawater reverse-osmosis membrane protection at the Southern SeaWater Desalination Plant south of Perth. The plant is currently being expanded to double its 50 million m³/year capacity.
The second contract is with Origin Energy, one of Australia’s leading integrated energy companies, for the supply and commissioning of Arkal automatic self-cleaning disc technology (Spin Klin Galaxy) for Origin’s Australia Pacific LNG (APL) project – a joint venture between Origin, ConocoPhillips and Sinopec.
The APL project involves the processing of coal-seam gas to liquefied natural gas at several sites in southern Queensland. Amiad’s solution will perform prefiltration to ensure membrane protection during the process.
