ACWA appoints nanotechnology membrane specialist
UK water and wastewater specialist ACWA Services announced on 6 June 2012 that it has appointed a membrane nanotechnology specialist, Dr Oscar Hernandez-Ramirez as a chemical process engineer.He will focus initially on wastewater technologies but ultimately will also provide input to the company's potable water business.
Hernandez-Ramirez has good credentials in the field of membrane technology and has undertaken groundbreaking research at the University of Manchester culminating in the development of novel nanocomposite materials. He has also published a number of articles, including an award-winning abstract, on the topic.
Hernandez-Ramirez has worked for several high-profile laboratories and at the University of Manchester itself. He was also previously with another significant water and wastewater treatment company and has been involved in design work for major schemes both in the UK and abroad.
His post will support ACWA's tendering and contracting process operations and will involve, among other responsibilities, preparing conceptual process designs, conducting pilot trials, troubleshooting and on-site testing.
ACWA proposals manager, Gary Harris said: "The appointment of Dr Hernandez-Ramirez will strengthen our process capability, and the intention is to involve him in both the wastewater and water treatment areas of the business. We are delighted to have his additional expertise to back our considerable existing talent."
