Gujarat wants six more desalination plants, says chief minister

India’s Gujarat state is to tender six more desalination projects following news that Essel Infraprojects is to construct a plant there, reports Daily News & Analysis (DNA).

Gujarat chief minister Viyay Rupani unveiled the state’s ambitions for six more plants during a visit to Mumbai, where he was promoting the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Summit.

The minister touched on plans for six desalination plants each of 100,000 m3/d along the Gujarati coastline – in Dwarka, Kutch, Dahej, Somnath, Bhavnagar and Pipavav. Tenders for the projects are expected to be finalised by the end of 2018.
