ADWEA pre-qualifies 25 firms for Taweela desalination project

Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA) has pre-qualified 25 bidders for its mega desalination project at Taweela.
The 13 companies to prequalify unconditionally are: ACWA Power, Acciona Agua, Aqualia, Cobra, Engie, JGC, Malakoff, Marubeni, Mitsubishi, Suez, Sumitomo, Valoriza, and Veolia.
A further 12 companies have qualified conditionally and must join a consortium to bid. They are: China Harbor, GIC, GS Inima, Hyflux, IDB Infrastructure, Orascom Construction, PAL Group, Power China, Samsung, SNC Lavalin, Sojitz, and Utico.
The competition for a developer or developers for a project whose total capacity is 909,000 m3/d began in January 2018.
The deadline for bids is 29 October 2018.
