Hatenboer-Water of the Netherlands has supplied three reverse osmosis (RO) units for a new oil production vessel, the Pioneiro de Libra, reports Marine Link.
The new ship is a Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessel (FPSO), where oil is processed and stored before it is transferred to a tanker.
Two of the RO units are installed topside, producing 480 m3/d for the oil separation and stabilisation process. The third is in the hull and provides potable water.
The new vessel was built by Jurong Shipyard, Singapore, and is operated by OOGTK Libra GmbH & Co KG, a joint venture of Brazil’s Odebrecht Oil & Gas and Teekay Offshore. It is chartered to Petrobras, the Brazilian petroleum company.
