Sorek desalination planned to be ahead of schedule


The 16-in membrane elements installed in vertical pressure vessels at the Sorek site.
IDE Technologies told Desalination & Water Reuse on 20 June 2012 that it planning to be ahead of schedule in its construction of the Sorek desalination plant in Israel in joint venture with Hutchison Water.

"The construction is progressing vigorously and smoothly," said an IDE spokesperson.

Phase 1 of the 150 million m³/year seawater reverse-osmosis plant is scheduled for completion in August 2013, with Phase 2 to be finished in December 2013.

· An article on the Sorek desalination plant by IDE's executive vice president of special projects, Fredi Lokiec, will appear in the August/September 2012 issue of Desalination & Water Reuse.
