Japanese trio to challenge European water contract dominationEbara Corporation, Mitsubishi Corporation and JGC Corporation have agreed that Mitsubishi and JGC will each acquire a 33.3% share of Ebara's wholly-owned Ebara Engineering Services Co (EES), thereafter giving the three shareholders equal management of the subsidiary. EES has engineering expertise in water business and has built up expertise and a Japanese network in the operation and maintenance of water supply and sewage systems. Mitsubishi possesses a global network as well as expertise in business management and financing, while JGC has a proven track record in global engineering and project management. Ebara says that this joint venture is the first step in a strategy to grow a competitive Japanese consortium in the global water market, leveraging each partner's advanced technologies and business capabilities.
