Furukawa and Glater enter AMTA Hall of FameDavid Furukawa, former president and director of the International Desalination Association, and Professor Emeritus Julius "Bud" Glater, who has worked on desalination at the University of California, Los Angeles for around 50 years, both received standing ovations when the awards were announced. The citation for Furukawa, president of Separation Consultants Inc, said that the award was "in recognition of his many achievements and having been an active leader in several desalination organizations, effectively advancing the membrane industry during a distinguished career of over 40 years. The achievements of Prof Glater were emphasised back at UCLA a day earlier, when one of his former students, Prof Yoram Cohen, announced the success of the university's development of a mini modular membrane-based desalination tester.
