Wastewater reuse in new USEPA-Singapore agreement

The US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) has signed an agreement with Singapore’s national water agency, PUB, to collaborate on sustainable urban water management, including water reuse and resource recovery from wastewater.

Under the memorandum of understanding signed in Singapore on 27 June 2013 by PUB’s CEO, Chew Men Leong, and the US ambassador, David Adelman, several mutual areas of interest were identified for bilateral cooperation.

These areas included: safe drinking water research; watershed management to improve and protect water quality for human health and ecosystems; technological research and development for innovative water and wastewater treatment; water reuse and resource recovery from wastewater; and sustainable water infrastructure.
