Dow UF module unveiled at AWWA

The SFP-2880 ultrafiltration (UF) module, introduced by Dow Water & Process Solutions on 16 June 2009 at the American Water Works Association's annual conference in San Diego, offers 50% more membrane active area while decreasing the required system footprint by 30%.

The SFP-2880 adds 20 in of length when compared with the SFP-2860 module, but still features the high strength pvdf hollow fibers with a nominal pore size of 0.03µm. The new module also allows flexibility in system design by reducing the number of modules, required piping, skid infrastructure and the size of the compressed-air and clean-in-place systems. In addition, the larger modules produce a smaller waste stream for disposal.

Bob Krueger, commercial manager for Dow Water & Process Solutions in the Americas said, "The longer module and greater active membrane area make the SFP-2880 ideal for OEMs and system integrators looking to reduce costs and meet end-user demands for system reliability."

The new UF module also features:

  • Hydrophilic fibers for easy cleaning and wetability that help maintain long term performance
  • Outside-in flow configuration for high tolerance to feed solids that help reduce the need for pretreatment processes
  • U-PVC housing, helping to eliminate the need for costly pressure vessels.

  • Created for larger system designs, the DOW Ultrafiltration SFP-2880 is ideal for a variety of treatment applications such as groundwater, surface water, seawater, industrial wastewaters, and tertiary treatment.
