Chinese company displays reinforced UF fibre

An ultrafiltration (UF) module featuring a reinforced PVC fibre was displayed in early November at the Aquatech exhibition in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on the stand of the Chinese company Litree.

The company claims that the reinforced fibre has high physical strength, excellent chemical resistance and even pore distribution with high precision. Applications include municipal and industrial water and wastewater treatment, landfill leachate treatment and water reuse.

By adopting a highly hydrophilic fibre, the Litree UF module offers:

· High and stable flux to reduce the operational quantity and modules to reduce investment cost
· Suppression of sludge accumulation on the fibre by a unique module structure and efficient aeration, thus reducing operational cost
· Reinforced hollow fibre with 0.03 μm nominal pore size, which intercepts suspended solids and micro-organisms effectively.

As well as examples inside China, Litree's UF is now being used in a membrane bioreactor at an Italian municipal wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 21,600 m³/d as part of a DAF+AO+MBR process. The company's website is www.litree.com.
