The conference, held by the Water Resources Research Center (WRRC), University of Arizona, in collaboration with the US Bureau of Reclamation, will include an opportunity to tour the Yuma desalting plant, still one of America's largest, and the Water Quality Improvement Centre at the facility.

Reclamation experts will share the latest information on the Yuma desalter's one-year pilot run, which began in April 2010, and they will be joined by desalination experts from the region and abroad. Keynote speakers will include deputy commissioner Kira Finkler and Mike Gabaldon from Reclamation.

Among many interesting presenters are Mario Lopez Perez of Conagua, Mexico, and Jim Lozier, vice-president and technology fellow of CH2M Hill, Phoenix.

Registration can be made via the WRRC website
