Xylem joins US trade mission to China

Water technology company, Xylem is participating in a US presidential trade mission to the People’s Republic of China, taking place this week.

The trade mission will include visits to Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, and is intended to help US firms to launch or up their operations in China for sustainable products and services, including clean water and waste treatment technologies.

China’s state media recently reported that the government intended to commit CNY 2 trillion (US$ 330 billion) to combatting pollution of its increasingly scarce water resources.

“Xylem has a long history of operating in China and, with a strong local presence, we understand the complexity and urgency of its water challenges,” said president and chief executive officer of Xylem, Patrick Decker.

“We are very encouraged by the Chinese government’s recent commitment to improve water quality through significant investments in sustainable solutions such as wastewater treatment, recycling and membrane treatment technology,” Decker said.

Xylem senior vice president and President, Analytics and Treatment, Chris McIntire, and president of Xylem China, Shuping Lu, are representing Xylem on the mission.
