Vapour compression desalination plants for Indian oilfield

Texas-based MECO, which supplies desalination equipment to the offshore, pharmaceutical and military sectors, announced in December 2011 that it would be designing and constructing two vapour compression (VC) desalination plants for an oilfield off the Indian coast.

Two MECO 1250M3C VC desalination plants, which supply 115 m³/d each, will be used for the production of drinking and process water in the Mumbai High oilfield located in the Arabian Sea approximately 160 km west of Mumbai.

The company also recently won an order for two reverse-osmosis trains to supply 392 m³/d of drinking and process water to an oil and gas company off Russia’s Sakhalin island in sub-zero temperatures and an earthquake zone.
