Toyobo desalination membrane plant opened in Rabigh

The ACWA-Toyobo joint venture in Saudi Arabia, Arabian Japanese Membrane Company LLC (AJMC), opened its reverse-osmosis membrane production facility in Rabigh on 29 May 2014.

The factory will produce Hollosep® reverse osmosis (RO) membrane elements for seawater desalination.

ACWA has the largest holding in AJMC with 49%. Toyobo holds 36.1% and Itochu Plantech 14.9%.

Toyobo membranes have already been purchased for nine RO plants in Saudi Arabia, including Jeddah RO3 (260,000 m³/d) in 2013 and Ras Al Khair (345,000 m³/d) in 2014.
