Russians award Aqua-Chem SWRO contract

The Russian government has ordered the second phase of a 10,000 m³/d seawater reverse-osmosis desalination system from Matrix, a division of Aqua-Chem Inc of Florida, USA.

In an announcement on 6 October 2010, the company said this was one of the largest seawater membrane systems ever installed in the Russian Federation.

David Gensterblum, Aqua-Chem CEO, stated that his team has successfully performed on the Phase One contract and has just been awarded the Phase Two expansion to 10,000 m³/d of the turnkey potable water system.

“We are delighted to work with the Russian Federation on this major installation,” said Gensterblum. “Water development projects will be a major focus of both governments and global corporations over the next two decades, and the federation’s foresight in moving aggressively on an installation of this size demonstrates the potential of the market.”
