Potential bidders for the Al Ghubrah Independent Water & Power Project in Oman need to send a Letter of Interest to the Oman Power & Water Procurement Co (OPWP) by no later than 10 February 2010.
The project includes a 30 MIGD (136,000 m³/d) desalination plant.
OPWP will enter into a 15-year power and water purchase agreement with the successful tenderer in respect of the project, for which submissions will be required by May 2010. The preferred bidder will be announced in July with contract award expected on 1 October 2010.
Commercial operation is scheduled for 1 April 2013. Consultants for the project are Ernst & Young DLA, Piper LLP and British Power International.
