New Jakarta RO desalination plant will open in December

A 5,000 m³/d seawater desalination plant is to be opened in Jakarta, Indonesia, in December 2010. The US$ 5.72 million reverse-osmosis facility will be at the Ancol Dreamland Park to provide clean water for its residential complexes and theme parks in the north of the city.

According to a report in the Jakarta Post on 7 May 2010, PUB, the Singapore national water agency, was consultant for the project, overseeing construction and providing guidelines for the facility’s day-to-day operation.

The capacity will eventually increase to 10,000 m³/d, Fransiskus Xaverius Husnit, corporate secretary of PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol, is quoted as saying.
