Kuwait discusses seawater desalination with Algeria

Algiers was the setting on 12 July 2012 for the first meeting of the Kuwait-Algerian committee for seawater desalination, which aims to establish cooperation between the two nations on the technology.

The Kuwait News Agency reported that Mohammed Rashid Al-Bahho, the head of projects and water distillation at the Kuwait Ministry of Electricity & Water, said the meeting discussed means of exchanging experience in seawater desalination. The Kuwait delegation reviewed the country’s experience in this field, while the Algerians outlined their experience, which is mainly in reverse osmosis.

Various desalination techniques were discussed, as well as means of executing projects. The committee’s program included field trips to desalination plants and water-supply dams.
